LUBA 1 vs. LUBA 2...What's Changed? - 雙語字幕

Last year's Luba Lodge brought us a wireless all-wheel drive robotic mower aimed at larger lawns, uneven terrain, and steep slopes.
This year they're coming for the trees.
RTK mowers are not big fans of obstructions.
Does motion have the answers we're looking for with the Luba 2?
What's changed?
And you consider the Luba 2?
Well hello there.
It's Seth at Otmo.
Today we're gonna talk about the Luba 2 and the Luba 1.
We're gonna compare them, see what the differences are, where they're similar, talk about why the Luba 2 might be a better fit for you.
If you're not already please like, subscribe, and leave comments.
We love to answer comments so let's get into it.
Overall, with the LUBA 1 and LUBA 2, you're going to notice a lot of similarities, you
I think the approach to this was learning from the previous year,
what could be refined, how could they refine it, and listening to the customer and a lot of the feedback they had gotten.
You my motion was new to the market and really getting on a lot of things set up last season,
so a lot of the fulfillment side support side was not in place where it should have been.
I mean,
it gave all my opportunity to step up and help facilitate support for our customers, but as- second year with a new product.
They've learned a lot of lessons.
They've gotten a lot more systems in place.
I do feel that the overall readiness for market on support side is in a better place than it was last year.
We've been working more closely with them so I think that we've also helped to build out our understanding of the product.
far more intimately than we had the opportunity to last year.
So I hope that that continues,
and I hope that both OPMO and the motion can provide customers the sport they need when they need it.
We've had relatively minimal testing with the LUBA 2, especially here.
We've tested it down in Florida with David, who's our wonderful support manager.
He's really had a lot of
apps and it'll help with a of testing but that also means it's not really a
direct-to-market ready-to-go package product so if you're curious as to why
we're not testing it you know and filming and showing not just because
it's you know the middle of February cold rainy and our grass looks like crap
it's also because this is not per se a Ready to go,
unpackage it,
product experience,
and don't think that would be fair to show them right now As it stands because they're still in a testing,
refining mode And not a shipping to customers,
bundled up,
ready to go So,
you know,
as much as we want to test it,
that is going to come later As mentioned,
it's to love testing the two against each other,
try and find some opportunities to see where that vision really comes into play,
and then maybe throw it up against a few of the other wireless products and see overall performance and how it is to interact with them based on what we've done
in the past.
The biggest difference in the model lineup is that instead of the three models that the has which is a quarter acre,
three quarter acre, and an acre and a quarter.
And they're all low cut.
The Luba II has four models, a quarter acre, three quarter acre, acre and a quarter, and two and a half acres.
So that big jump up from the acre and a quarter I think is going to meet a lot of people's needs.
But on top of that, each of those models...
models has a high cut and a low cut version so some of us other states are
going to be good with low cut but some of the northern states with that taller
longer grass they're going to benefit from that high cut model so a lot
of people ask for that they listen so I think that's a big benefit to all of us.
Going back to similarities you'll see a lot of the interface is the same we did have some issues.
I with some moisture pooling in some of these crevices.
They did come out with a cover for this.
If interested in that and you have a luba one, get a hold of us.
We can get you one of those.
You'll still have the rain sensor on top from luba one.
You'll notice that the rain sensor is still existent on the luba two.
And notice some refinements to the stop power buttons.
Again, I think they built in a better system with these soft touches and a tighter seal around these.
So have fewer opportunities for any type of water, moisture to pull up and stay in.
Where we start to get into some differences and we'll start small and work big, you'll notice that on the lube tube.
that does not have the side bumpers.
You'll notice that the front tires are now omnidirectional in comparison to the all-wheel drive tread.
Now that is,
you know, they started releasing that on some of the last year's models, so it is now standard on the LUBA 2 rear wheels.
These are more paddle style,
so I think you're going to get a lot better traction on wet texture turf or you know I think down south I think a lot of the sandier ground they
have.
This will help with avoiding getting stuck or digging holes.
So in I think this is a decision.
Another minor change that they've made.
The cutting system stays the same with the two blades and what they did do was reduce the blade guard.
Last we did notice a little bit of buildup.
catching in there with the wet grass so in reducing that it's still safe but it is a smaller lip for
grass to get caught up and built in so again minor minor revision but something that I think will help overall performance.
Another minor change is the luba one can handle 75% grade the luba two can handle 80% grade they're both very steep.
Inclines, one of the biggest benefits to the LUBITU is the vision module.
This right here is going to be the bread and butter that makes the LUBITU more capable
than the LUBITU one was in a lot of different situations that might have ruled out some customers' yards from using a wireless product.
With the vision module, you know, LUBITU one had for ultrasonic sensors.
The II has three but it has that added vision module so it uses a vision-based system to help avoid obstacles.
It's going to be a little smarter with what it's looking at and whether or not it needs to slow down go around or if it's something you can go over with no issues.
Outside of obstacle avoidance another benefit of the vision system is to kind of use as a century, little surveillance.
You're away from home and if it's mowing, you can tap into the vision system and check and see what it sees.
So if you're concerned about anything and you're not at home,
you know, taking that ring doorbell approach and taking it off the wall and putting it on something that moves.
I don't know how many people are to use it.
It's just it's definitely a nice to have for cases you might find on your own They are both RTK.
They both wireless products and that is something that you know We saw the industry moving towards last year and it's going to continue to do so
But one of the downfalls of RTK is certain lawns You know with trees?
obstacles, heavy overhead, and have poor line of sight to the reference station
and to the product, you know, you're gonna see poor performance, you're gonna see start stops.
With the addition of the vision module,
having that redundancy is huge because relying on one system for navigation has its pitfalls,
but this vision system,
when it does lose signal,
it can now look can see where it's at,
figure out where it should be,
where it can't be based on what it's mapped so far,
and it can use that vision to help reorient itself and regather that stronger RTK signal.
So you have fewer interruptions and fewer interruptions than gives you a better efficiency.
So far as connectivity goes, last year, the LUBA1 was Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which is pretty standard for a lot of these models.
The LUBA2 is Bluetooth Wi-Fi and does have an optional 4G.
So this is gonna be a big benefit for operation alone, but also security.
Having the ability to power the 4G and the GPS and monitor remotely, that means if it gets picked up and taken away.
you've got that added layer of security of being able to track it more precisely and unfortunately the LUBA1 did not have that benefit.
The 4G is not included with the LUBA2 whereas some of our other manufacturers include a three
or ten year 4G plan so figuring out 4G will you know land on the customer or
ideally we would like to work on a solution that we can provide our
customers directly so they don't have to deal with the hassle of getting their own network system.
With that 4G you do get the benefit.
range on the RTK reference station.
So with the LUBA-1, you are limited to about 150 meters from that reference station.
With the LUBA-2 and 4G, it actually bumps that up to 5 kilometers, so you get a much larger area using that reference station.
Again, it's dependent on the activation of the 4G.
but having that extra range could prove useful in a lot of different cases.
So with the Arctic reference station,
something that is coming out with both models is a solar panel that goes with and powers the reference station.
The biggest benefit to that is going to mean you no longer have to run incredibly long cables to power the reference station,
especially if you're trying to trying to mount it high on top of the house,
it's going to help improve where people are able to mount the reference station for the optimal signal.
If you don't have the 4G and you still want to be able to track this underneath the vision module,
they did add a dedicated spot for an Apple AirTag.
So, you know, as opposed to happening to open up and potentially cost them
issues with the LUBA-1,
you can just pop that in right underneath the Vision module so you get that extra layer of security without having to open up or
do modify the LUBA-2 in any way.
The LUBA-2 does have integrated voice control so your Alexa and your Google Home setting up your schedules and interacting with them,
you know, directly.
that is a feature that is being added to luba one, but as of last year did not have that same capability.
So, mean, I think it helps a lot to see them trying to still refine their product here,
but also add some of that benefit to previous models for existing customers.
But I do want to talk, take a second and talk about a little refinement that has taken place.
They have made some revisions to it.
some of the components that they found some faults in last year,
so reinforcing the suspensions, because I know we had had some issues with those breaking.
I it's good to see a continued evolution and improvement.
So very similar bumper,
I think they made minor refinements to the newer one to make it a little more durable,
because I think we had some issues with how it connected.
One of the biggest internal differences that you can't see but you'll observe through the performance capability is moving to the silicon on
chip and away from the micro control unit.
So if you're not familiar micro control unit is going to be very simple processing.
It's going to be in smaller household appliances.
It's low power but it's also lower capability and what it can handle.
The LUBA 2 has the silicone on chips that means it has the built-in operating system,
it far more processing capability,
a lot of memory,
and that means you can store more zones,
you can add a lot of a lot more software improvements, and you know essentially make this smarter through that new hardware.
that they've implemented.
With that, you know, processing, I think one of the biggest changes is the zones it can handle.
The 10,000 unit can handle up to 60 zones,
5,000 unit can handle up to 30, the 3000 can do 20, and the 1000 can do 10.
It also has the added benefit of having a a lot of cutting capabilities.
So you're going to get the parallel,
you're going to get the checkerboard just as you had with the lube 1,
but you're also going to get a diamond grid and letters and designs.
So you know it's a bit of a novelty but there could be some fun use cases for events.
I want to see all of the use cases for it and I'm definitely looking forward to testing it.
because it is a new kind of novel approach that I haven't seen really from any others.
Speaking of pattern cutting,
the one is going to get the diamond cutting pattern back loaded to it so it is getting a little bit of an update in regard to patterns that can cut.
The Luba one is still available.
It may work for many large open areas and customers and it is at a lower price point.
It will, I believe, be discontinued after this year, so of a loss supplies last.
So lube1 works for you, great.
If not, lube2 is going to be the future moving forward with motion.
Lube2 is ready for pre-order on our site.
You can put a deposit down and get the pre-order ready.
Ideally, I believe.
it is going to start shipping most likely the earliest of April.
There's a lot of opportunities to order this from different dealers, different web platforms.
One of our biggest benefits is our ability to help the customer find the right product to begin with,
but then also support them in a quicker,
more efficient manner than they may get trying to go through the who might be moving a larger volume than we may be and we've also got our
knowledge base to help troubleshoot support tickets so all of our customers do get great support on the back end of their purchase.
Hey thanks again for watching hope you learned something valuable today if you're interested in purchasing Lube 2 you can head to our website,
find a CSSP near you, or place a pre-order online.
Until next time, like, subscribe.
We look forward to bringing you future content.
