Should You Give Away Your Best Stuff For Free in 2024? (DEBATE SETTLED) - Sous-titres bilingues

Alright, so one of the most hotly debated topics.
Let's talk about it.
Should you give your best stuff away for free?
I'm going to that in this video.
So let's define something or kind of qualify something first.
When say your stuff, give away your best stuff for free.
In this video, what I'm talking about is your best content, the best of your knowledge, the best of your wisdom.
So should you give away your best information, your best knowledge, right?
The best of your wisdom for free to the marketplace.
Well, here's the reality.
Here's how I see it, that it absolutely depends on your business.
There are more instances, more business models where, yes, it's a super smart thing to do.
There's one model in particular where it's not a smart thing to do and you need to be extremely cautious.
And let's break this down a little bit so that you've got some directions.
So first and foremost, I believe that if you are in something like the consulting business.
If you're in the coaching business where you actually hold people's hands, walk them through the process.
If you're in the done with you business,
if you're in the done for you business, if you're in the agency business, can't remember if I said that one already on this list.
So if you're in any of those,
like the consulting,
coaching, done with you, done for you, or agency, yeah, I think it's a great thing to give away your best information, to give away the best of the best.
because you're not in the business of marketing and selling information.
You're in the business and marketing and selling the consulting on that information, the application of that information to somebody's business.
With coaching, you're not in the business of selling information.
You're in the business of coaching people through the implementation and execution of that information.
If you're in the done with you or done for you,
you're not in the business of marketing and selling information,
you're in the business of marketing and selling the help of implementing and executing on that,
helping them if you're doing it with them and if you're not doing it with them and you're actually doing it for them,
even more so that's much more of a service.
certainly an agency which is purely 100% service business.
I think that it's a great thing to give away your best content,
your best information because it demonstrates to the marketplace the expertise, the knowledge, the understanding and the wisdom behind the method.
methodology that you're either going to consult with them on or that you're going to coach
them on or that you're going to implement with them or for them and so on.
And that's why I think if you look at somebody like,
let's say a Gary Vaynerchuk or you look at somebody like a Alex Ormosey, it's super smart to give away.
best information because they're not in the business of marketing and selling that information.
They're in a completely different business.
And all of those business models, yeah, I think that it's super smart, super wise.
When you've got the goods behind what it is that you can do with and for people, then share that, get that out there.
It only makes what it is that you're offering that much more valuable or the perception of value.
It only enhances that.
The issue arises when you're in the information product business.
And right when you are marketing and selling information.
And so here is where I would highly recommend it.
recommend that you exhibit significant caution,
because it makes zero sense from a business model perspective to give away your best stuff if in turn you are selling that same stuff.
If you are marketing, you like it's not a wise business move to give away your for free, that which you are selling.
Now there is one kind of exception to this rule,
if you will,
and that is if you are marketing and selling information,
but that information comes along with cheat sheets,
action guides,
SOPs, implementation playbooks and whatnot where there's all of these kind of
materials and tools and resources that simplify and expedite the
implementation of the information then yes it's okay to give away a lot of your best information.
because you're still offering all the things to simplify in and speed up the process.
But if all you're doing is giving away for free that which you are selling in the identical kind of you know format and context with no context with
no additional tools resources and so on then that is not a smart thing to do.
It's never a wise business model to give away for free that which you are selling.
And so that's my take on should you give away your best stuff for me.
