This is part of the reason why I haven't talked about this yet and why I'm not naming the exact website.
site, I'm extremely paranoid about people getting the bright idea to use these sites because of me.
They're not the same as they were 10 years ago, heck they weren't even got 10 years ago.
Any following attempt I made to make a friend on these sites completely failed.
They're totally overrun by bots and middle aged dudes looking for a little more than a friendly chap if you pick it up what I'm putting down.
Which makes it even more wild to think about how I managed to meet this person, despite all of that.
It's not like we regularly used the site either, or at least I didn't.
And just to be clear,
this was through the text chat only, chat with strangers websites are even more of a minefield with webcams, just please be careful.
Anyway, nowadays, there's way more safe and effective ways to find friends online,
you are discord,
and I feel like social media in general has become way better for finding people with the same interests as you,
which is very cool and nice.
So the other reason is the fact that we were literal teenagers.
It is incredibly rare for teenage relationships to last more than a couple months, and it makes sense why.
You're still developing as a person even into your twenties, and teen years is arguably the time where the most development is taking place.
You make mistakes, change your mind a lot, and all of that is totally normal and expected.
On top of that,
I think a lot of people tend to rush into relationships around this time,
due to peer pressure,
and I guess some people still have this idea that you need to be married and have 1.5 kids by the time you hit 20,
though luckily that expectation seems to be dying out with each new generation,
as we realize that it's okay to take your time to decide what you want in life.
So why did this relationship work out?
I know.
I genuinely don't know.
I guess part of it was the fact that we weren't really looking for relationships,
just a friend to play Minecraft with, and the rest just kind of happened.
Other than that,
I really did just get lucky to get randomly matched with a genuinely cool person who shared some of the same struggles that I did with not fitting in and liking

It honestly didn't take that long to realize I had feelings for him,
but there was kind of too many questions surrounding the whole thing, like how would the relationship work exactly?

Honestly, the friendship was the most important thing to me in this situation, so I decided to keep my mouth shut.
Luckily, I didn't have to worry about all that because he asked me out.
And so, Everything continued pretty much as normal.
I don't know,
it was still kinda just like having a best friend except with a different label and sometimes drawing cute art of our OCs together,
although I know some of you guys do that even with your platonic friends.
Both of us just kinda knew in the back of our minds that long distance relationships
don't usually last and that there was a chance this wouldn't work out for us.
And that was okay.
But I think our first meeting.
was the true moment we decided we want to make this work, despite the distance.
I was so nervous the first time we met up in person,
I was just waiting at the bus stop and he was super late because obviously he'd never been to my city before and I think even
the UK,
so they had to figure out how the buses work,
so I just had this growing feeling of anxiety for like In our,
I don't know how long it was actually, probably not that long but it felt like it.
Obviously, we liked each other a lot during our online relationship, but the sun's
really cheesy, but the moment we held hands and looked at each other for the first time in real life.

We both knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
I'm sorry, I'm still kind of embarrassed being so openly gushy about my partner, like we literally call each other dude and bro.
Like obviously we're romantic to each other in private.
But yeah, I don't know.

Paired with the concept of two masculine presenting people being in a relationship, still being unusual to people for some reason.
Anyway, I could make an entire video itself under four years we spent long distance,

Truthfully I think it varies from person to person which method works best.
Obviously I personally prefer making friends first and if anything happens it happens.
But I can imagine that for some people dating sites and such work better for them because they don't have to worry about what might happen to those friendships
in the end.
This might be kind of silly coming from me but I think the most important thing is having patience and to make sure you continue to treat people as people.
I'm not falling into the trap of seeing everyone who fits into your preferences only as potential partners.
