You might be wondering, why did Nissan make this change?
According a spokesperson, Nissan is always adapting its powertrain options to better meet customer needs.
They believe the 2.5 liter engine strikes the right balance between fuel economy and performance.
As It's compatible with all-wheel drive, which more Altima buyers are looking for these days.

The base S trim of the 2025 Ultima starts at $28,140, which is about $630 more than last year.
If you're willing to spend a little more,
the SV trim is priced at $28,570 and opens up some nice options, including all-wheel drive and upgraded tech for the cabin.
Speaking of upgrades, the now offers a special edition package for $1,090.
This package gives you a slick 12.3-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, and even a sunroof.
Plus, it adds some style points with a rear spoiler, glossy black, 17-inch wheels, and some fancy illuminated kick plates.
If you're looking to step up your game, the SR trim will set you back $29,970.
This upgrade improves upon the SV standard features,
giving you a bit more bang for your buck,
and for those who want it all,
the top spec SL starts at $34,470 with front-wheel drive,
or $35,970 if you want the all-wheel drive version, so when can you get your hands on one?
Nissan says the 2025 Altima will be hitting dealer lots in just a few weeks.
While it's a bummer to lose the turbo option, the Altima still offers a solid package, especially with the new tech and stuff.
